Commissioner Directs Swift Action in Cases Related to Land Disputes, Harassment, Assault and Obstructed Access Routes

Gonda: Women from across the Devipatan Division voiced their grievances and sought administrative intervention during the “Maa Pateshwari Shakti Samvad” — a special women-focused public hearing chaired by Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal at the Commissioner’s office.

During the hearing, a total of 27 complaints related to land disputes, illegal encroachments, blocked access routes, assault, harassment, and alleged police inaction were brought before the authorities. Taking the matters seriously, the Commissioner directed concerned officials to conduct proper inquiries and ensure prompt and effective action in accordance with the law.

One of the complainants, Annapurna Gupta from Chauri village under Karnailganj Kotwali police station, alleged assault over a drainage dispute and accused the local police of failing to take timely action. She claimed that after objecting to the blocking of a drain, she was attacked with sticks, resulting in a fracture in her hand. The Additional Superintendent of Police (West) was instructed to investigate the matter and submit a report within five days.

In another case, Juguna Devi from Khodare police station area alleged that forged documents had been used to illegally transfer and occupy her land. She further claimed that she was threatened and subjected to caste-based abuse when she protested. The Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue), Gonda, was directed to investigate the matter and initiate necessary action.

Richa Singh of Thakur Purwa in Pipra Padum village complained that a decades-old access road had been blocked by the construction of a wall. She also alleged threats and verbal abuse by the accused parties. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) was instructed to examine the issue and take legal action.

Similarly, Lakshmi Devi from Loharadan village in Tarabganj tehsil stated that her only access route had been ploughed over and blocked, causing severe inconvenience to her family. The SDM Tarabganj and BDO Wazirganj were directed to ensure restoration of the pathway after due inquiry.

Another complainant, Neelam Jaiswal from Katra Bazar Nagar Panchayat, alleged attempts to illegally occupy family property and threats to her life and property. She further stated that obstacles were being created in the medical treatment of her ailing husband. Taking serious note of the complaint, the Commissioner directed the Superintendent of Police, Gonda, to ensure strict legal action after investigation.

Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal emphasized that all complaints must be resolved in a transparent, time-bound, and quality-oriented manner. She instructed officials to submit action taken reports in every case within five days.
